Jono's interest in playing disk golf with Dad has resulted in a fantastic release. He's quite good. You'd never expect an 8-year old to be able to put the power behind a disk that he does. He also is getting surprisingly adept at shooting pool, and occasionally beats his father. Reading is coming along steadily. |

Jonathan has experienced dramatic growth intellectually this year. We have been amazed particularly at his mathematical ability, but his understanding of spiritual and philosophical concepts is also delightful. He enjoys doing everything the older boys are doing, yet there's no doubt he's Momma's boy. |

Jonathan started playing soccer this year and loved it. He has the speed and the size, and occasionally shows some aggressiveness. He's just beginning to read. |

Jonathan is growing physically and mentally. He is still very much attached to his dear mother, and loves to fall asleep next to her. But his chief love is telling stories to anyone who will listen. Here he tells a story at the dinner table. |

Jonathan is so full of wonderful, fascinating imagination! Recently he did Superman from the back of a large armchair to test his flying ability. Gravity put an end to his test-flight, and the hardwood floor smashed his two front teeth. |

Here's the big guy dancing and singing for joy on our picnic table at the first 60-plus-degree sunny weather of the year! I looked out the kitchen window and had to smile at his spontaneous display (and get my camera). |

In November, 2002 Jonathan became quite ill with vomiting and diarrhea, and lost 6# over the course of a week, culminating in a 48-hour hospitalization for IV fluids. (Also see video) |

Jonathan's second birthday finds Mom wondering how much longer she will have the energy to pick up after this guy! Nothing is out of his reach by now. This picture captures the "attitude". Carrie found this electric four-wheeler at a consignment store for cheap, and Jon has absolutely loved it. |

I don't want you to get the idea that Jonathan is less active because he's been sick. In fact, this little guy can do the damage of any ten grown men. And it just got worse: Jono can now climb out of his playpen! He's so proud... |

We're still struggling with Jonathan's frequent respiratory infections, or whatever they are. Carrie's had to become creative in ways to distract Jonathan so he'll keep the mask on his face for an aerosol treatment. (He hates it.) |

Jonathan is still alive, but just by the hair of his chinny-chin-chin. He has finally gotten over the respiratory problems he's had for the past 8 months. We're tentatively calling it allergy to animal dander. Along the way he got tubes in his ears, amputated the tip of his ring finger, then fell over on a dining room chair with his fingers wrapped around the top of the chair. Then he nearly suffocated on a penny, but managed to swallow it. Still, he's more joy than you can get hold of in one day! |

While on our houseboat vacation this month, Jonathan made one of life's great discoveries: Tootsie Roll Pops. His facial expressions as he comes of age are priceless. He's just beginning to make some intelligible sounds. For instance, we can just make out "please" and of course "Daddy". |

Jonathan is already all boy. We're talking wild-man. Here he's flying down his plastic slide without care for life or limb. He's actually been in poor health the past 4 months, with almost continuous ear infections. He's due to have tubes placed soon. But he's growing like a weed. What a chunk! |

Well by the Grace of God, Jonathan reached his first birthday alive. He's beginning to walk, but still prefers to crawl. He can empty the contents of the kitchen cupboards in less than 90 seconds, 80 seconds in bare feet. Here are pictures from his one year birthday party on April 12, 2001. |

He's standing and just starting to take a couple of tentative steps while holding on. He pulls down everything within reach. (Just now pulled over Mom's mop-bucket. His eyes said, "coool!") He's excited about everyone and everything. On January 31, he said his first bona fide word: "keety!" He does love the cat, who doesn't return Jonathan's affections. |

Well, nothing is safe any more. He's started to crawl. From first tentative steps to 30mph took about two weeks. Here Peter is playing Monopoly with Mark and Paul. Pretty soon the game won't be safe either! |

Sarah and Carrie give the baby a bath in the kitchen sink. Jonathan at seven months has come to enjoy bathtime. Actually, I'm not sure who enjoys it more, Jonathan or Sarah. |

Jonathan turned 6 months on October 12, and his recent Doctor visit confirmed that he had "doubled his birth weight by 6 months." He's almost able to sit up without assistance, and can roll over! |

At four months, Jonathan is now able to hold his head up pretty well, don't you think? Here he is in Mom and Dad's bed. |
